We operate across all sectors of the water industry. Our capabilities include the investigation and development of water resources, the assessment of water needs and implementation of appropriate supplies, and the treatment and disposal of wastewater. We endeavour to involve stakeholders at all levels in the execution of water infrastructure projects.

Our main water activities are drinking water supply, wastewater treatment, treatment plants, sludge incinerators, and public private partnerships
Water is a growing area of work for Mott MacDonald in Russia. We have all the skills needed to help deliver the required infrastructure improvements. Our focus is always on achieving sustainable solutions that benefit all stakeholders.

Our main activities in the water sector cover drinking water supply, wastewater treatment, treatment plants, sludge incinerators, public private partnerships – these are all key aspects of our work in the water sector.

Water and wastewater infrastructure
Throughout the world people need safe and affordable drinking water, together with an environmentally sustainable means of disposing wastewater. At Mott MacDonald we have the skills and resources to plan, design and implement the basic infrastructure required to meet this need. This covers all aspects of the water and wastewater cycle.

In delivering this infrastructure Mott MacDonald provides leadership and develops appropriate solutions, which are tailored to meet our clients' specific needs.

Water and wastewater covers all aspects of potable water treatment, transmission, storage and distribution are covered by our expertise, along with the collection, processing and disposal of domestic and industrial wastewater.

Asset management and regulation
Asset management describes the activities which underpin the provision and operation of infrastructure-based services. In the water industry this includes the whole asset lifecycle, from identifying current and future service needs, procuring the assets and operating them, to managing the service they deliver and decommissioning them at the end of their useful life. Where infrastructure assets are in place and the level of service well established, asset managers tend to turn their attention to maintaining the service at the lowest overall cost.

Integrated water resources management
New legislation concerning water issues almost universally calls for measures of integrated water resources management (IWRM). The logic underlying the principles of the IWRM approach is powerful, as it stresses the cooperative approach to addressing all water management issues.

Policy and governance
At a time when water – and its impact on livelihoods and economic progress – is an ever pressing issue on the world stage, the ability of governments, cities, municipalities, rural communities, private enterprise and civil society to mobilise their collective skill and financial resources for progressive policy and governance is fundamental: effective, efficient and sustainable interventions coupled with clear ownership are vital.

Disaster Mitigation and Recovery
We cannot prevent disasters happening but disaster mitigation to ensure rapid economic and social recovery is a major responsibility of governments throughout the world. Governments cannot do this alone and empowering businesses, communities and individuals to cope and lead disaster recovery through preparedness and planning is now seen as the most effective and sustainable way of dealing with our uncertain world.
